Public health officers are responsible for protecting the public's health. They do this by investigating disease outbreaks, monitoring public health trends, and educating the public on how to stay healthy. Public health officers may work directly with patients or they may focus on research and policy development. Public Health Officers and Technicians form part of the level one (Community) workforce that bridges the household to the link health facility and therefore actively works at the interface to enhance health promotion, health prevention and rehabilitation. We therefore find ourselves directly or indirectly engaged as we strive to provide the much needed services and products to public.
Many people across the globe continue to suffer from preventable communicable diseases such as diarrhoea, scabies, and helminthic- to mention a few.
