The Ministry of Health under the state Department of Public Health and Professional Standards today called an emergency meeting to Healthcare Unions and Associations Leadership to discuss on the current development on Healthcare Workers Demands; Association of Public Health Officers Kenya Led by Chair APHOK and Secretary General APHOK Nairobi attended the meeting Headed by the PS Public Health and Professional Standards. The Issues discussed were as follows;

1.Reconstituting Internship Posting Committee at MOH to Involve Public Health Officers and other Preventive and Promotive Cadres by end of Friday this week, APHOK Nairobi Raised the concern and it was accommodated by the PS

2. Policies and guidelines that have always been discriminative to other cadres in regard to posting ,PS ordered to be reviewed with immediate effect and involve everyone in the healthcare

3. Universal Health Coverage and COVID-19 Health Emergency Response Officers Contracts and transitions to Permanent and Pensionable after consultation with Council of Governors,Treasury

4. Posting of Interns to be effected as from July,2024 once Treasury releases budget to the Ministry of Health.All Posting will be done and Public Health Officers Interns will be the Beneficiary.

Attendance was the PS Public Health and Professional Standards,Seth Panyako SG KNUN, Gibore SG KUCO, Peterson Wachira Chair KUCO,Dr. Miskellah Deputy Secretary General KMPDUDr. Kioko ,Dr. Kigen Head of Internships Posting, CEO/Registrar NCK Mrs Ann, Chair APHOK Kilel among others and Yours Truly Secretary General APHOK Nairobi

The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program is a critical initiative that focuses on ensuring access to clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene practices. Today, we held a consultative meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Health – Environmental Health and Sanitation Division, MOWASCO to jointly review WASH projects undertaken in partnership with the World Bank. The meeting was chaired by the acting CECM – Health, Dr. Mbwarali Kame.
